Cross country is the only sport where watching is also cardio. You sprint to the two-mile mark to see them for four seconds. You learn the course by where you can cut across. You know what a pack looks like when it's about to break, and you know the race gets decided in the chute — not in the first mile, however it looked.

Spangdahlem is a school where the roster gets rebuilt every year. Somebody's family arrives in August and somebody else's leaves in March, and the team is whoever is here. That's what the name is for — you wear it while you're here, and you keep wearing it long after the orders come.

Printed on a Bella+Canvas 3001 — soft Airlume combed, ring-spun cotton in a unisex retail fit.
