Cheer is scored on a routine nobody outside the mat can fully see. You know what a full is, and a basket toss, and which stunt group has been shaky all week. You have watched them hit it clean in practice and then stood there holding your breath anyway, because two and a half minutes is both nothing at all and the entire season.

Spangdahlem is a school where the roster gets rebuilt every year. Somebody's family arrives in August and somebody else's leaves in March, and the team is whoever is here. That's what the name is for — you wear it while you're here, and you keep wearing it long after the orders come.
